We are happy to announce the National Health Seminar subject this year. It is Color Genetics & Genetic Diversity. The seminar will be presented by Dayna Dreger, PhD. She is a canine geneticist at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.

We were greatly assisted in putting this seminar together by Stacy LeBlanc. Stacey owns Roux, one of the sable colored basenjis, who, a couple of years ago, led the charge in trying to find the genetic combination that creates this color. Secondly, Dr. Dregar will speak on an update of the most recent in-breeding report, that listed basenjis as the #3 most in-bred breed.

In addition, people will be able to donate their dogs DNA samples for inclusion in a number of genetic studies at Purdue University.

Complete Health Seminar information is on our Health Seminar Page, which includes links to the Purdue University Forms that need to be completed for dogs that will be included in the genetic studies,
